Audubon is a census-designated place in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County. Its population is approximately 9,000 and its total area is 4.5 square miles, with the majority being land. Audubon was originally named Shannonville in honor of an influential family in the area, and in 1899 was renamed Audubon after John James Audubon.
